Your child is staring at a glass screen right now.
Or they are thinking about it.
Or they are waiting for the next moment they can grab it.
Not because they want to ignore you.
Not because they are trying to ruin their brains.
It is because we have built an environment where the screen is easier to love than the real world.
And without meaning to, we handed them the device that replaced us.
I remember the exact moment I realized I was losing my daughter.
She was four.
I walked into the living room to tell her it was time for dinner.
She was holding my old iPad, her eyes locked onto a fast-paced sensory video of bright, exploding shapes.
I said her name. Nothing.
I stood directly in front of her. No eye contact.
When I gently reached down to take the tablet, her entire body went rigid.
She didn't just cry. She screamed.
A raw, primal scream of pure panic, as if I were pulling her away from a physical safety line.
She looked at me not with anger, but with absolute terror.
